Dear Friends,
WOW! You are AMAZING!
I could not be more honored to report that, because of you, 2022 came to an end with joy in my heart.
You gave so generously to help us meet and exceed our goal for the 2022 Annual Appeal! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for ensuring that we can continue providing critical services to our local kids, families, and seniors in need.
And, you helped us to once again win $10,000 in free advertising dollars through the Times Union's Capital Region Gives Campaign! Because of you, we can spread the word about our programs, services, and events.
Although this coming year will undoubtedly bring challenges, I'm looking forward to celebrating with you at our annual events, including the Route 50 Mile (June 8th) and our annual An Unbridled Affair Gala at Saratoga National Golf Course (July 20th).
This year, we're also celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our Runaway & Homeless Youth Shelter, and hosting a symposium on the future of aging in Southern Saratoga County. More details to come!
I cannot share my gratitude enough for the good work you continue to make possible, or for the heart-warming, overwhelming show of kindness that this past holiday season brought to our offices and so many local families.
On behalf our staff, Board, and volunteers, I wish you joy and health for 2023 and beyond!

? Lunch for a Cause

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people and household who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
CAPTAIN’s VITA program is in its 20th year of operation. IRS-certified volunteers give many hours to this program, completing tax returns for over 500 households each year.
To make an appointment, call 2-1-1 on or after January 17, 2023. When you call, tell them you’d like to make a tax appointment with CAPTAIN CHS and they will help you out.
Appointments are available Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings, late January – early April, and are located at the CAPTAIN CHS main office at 5 Municipal Plaza, Suite 3 in Clifton Park.

The holidays may have come to an end, but we're still celebrating the joy of community at Cheryl's Lodge! Check out some of the photos from our recent Holiday Party with youth, families, seniors, and volunteers!
The event was full of music, food, games, and fun raffle prizes. The photos with the background are from the photo booth area we had. We also had cookie decorating - all of this thanks to our generous donors and supporters, including Dawn Dayter for playing the Grinch, Dawn Ferguson Juneau for taking photos, AROX for keeping the kids dancing and singing all night, and King of Krispies for sending them off with a sweet treat!
