Dear Friends,
Wow! I can't believe how quickly the summer has come and gone. Thanks to you, it was one of our most successful yet as we served over 20,400 meals to school-aged kids throughout Saratoga County, hosted our better-than-ever Peace Camp at Cheryl's Lodge, and made sure that over 100 kids had the school supplies that they needed to start the academic year off right.
It doesn't end there though! We're about to kick-off our Holiday Giving programs, including Coats for CAPTAIN, Thanksgiving Baskets, Adopt-a-Family, and Toy Shop. You'll find all of the information that you need to sign up to donate below.
None of the work here happens without people like you: supporters and volunteers who freely and unselfishly give of your time, talents, and treasures, each and every day.
I hope you're enjoying the last days of summer and looking forward to fall and the holiday season to come.

This month, the kids at Cheryl's Lodge had the wonderful opportunity to make manicotti pasta, salad, and a delicious angel food cake for dessert! What's Cookin' helps to build life skills, like cooking, along with encouraging healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Check it out below!
❔❓ Trivia Night for CAPTAIN CHS!
Join us for the second Trivia Night for CAPTAIN CHS! $30 per person at Bye-i Brewing in Cohoes on Wednesday, October 26th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Tickets include a delicious food item and they'll be a prize for Best Costume. Cash bar available. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door (CASH ONLY at the door).
Community Hero Alert! Thanks so much to the staff and ownership of Euphoria Beauty Barin Amsterdam for donating free haircuts for our youth who are homeless or at-risk. While it can seem a small thing to many, the dignity of feeling and looking your best is something all of our kids deserve. Thank you for giving that to them and for your continued incredible support of our CAPTAIN CHS Street Outreach program!

Thanks to the generous support of the United Way, we're proud to announce that CAPTAIN CHS will be continuing to provide the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program through October 31st of this year! Households and individuals earning $58,000 per year or less can take advantage of this service to file their 2021 taxes, file an amended tax return, or to better understand a letter or communication received from the IRS.
To schedule an appointment, please call 518-371-1185 x111 and leave your name and number. A staff member or volunteer will call you back within three business days to set it up.
? Community Hero Alert: Ibi Semper Training, Inc.
Ibi Semper Training, Inc visited this summer's Camp CAPTAIN Cares at Cheryl's Lodge of Captain Community Human Services and showed the kids the importance of service dogs along with why service dogs are important for veterans. Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to be there!
? Care Links Presents November Senior Resource Fair!
Join us for the second Care Links Senior Resource Fair on Tuesday, November 1st from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Shenendehowa United Methodist Church (Fellowship Hall, Door F, 971 Route 146, Clifton Park, NY 12065).
The semiannual Senior Resource Fair offers local businesses and organizations the opportunity to connect with our community’s seniors and share their programs and services.
